Birding receives rave reviews in this part of the 'Berg with the Giant's Cup area receiving honourable mention - particularly for wetland birds. For many wetland species, this is one of the last intact habitats. Besides the higher altitude raptors, the Little Bittern is a focus of keen birders attention and the Wattled Crane is also in evidence.

For birders , the trip up Sani Pass can be rewarding. Species to be seen include the Cape Bunting, Thickbilled Lark and a wide variety of the raptors including the Lammergeyer, or Bearded Vulture, and the Black and Martial eagles.
